EDI as one of the main components of ultrapure water equipment, when it has any problems or damage, it will shorten the life of the equipment, increase the company's operating costs, and affect normal production, so what are the causes of EDI damage of ultrapure water equipment?
The main reasons for EDI block failure are as follows:
1. The EDI membrane block has been running at high current for a long time and is lower than the rated flow, and the heat accumulated on the plate side cannot be effectively dissipated, resulting in the EDI diaphragm and partition near the two poles being the first to heat up and deform, the EDI concentrated water pressure difference increases, the water quality and water volume decrease, and the carbon leakage will be serious

2. The EDI membrane block has not been cleaned and maintained for a long time, and the EDI diaphragm and channel are scaled, and the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet water increases, resulting in a decrease in the quality of the produced water, the current cannot be adjusted, and the voltage is high

3. The ultrafiltration system improperly controls oxidants such as residual chlorine, and the EDI oxidant is excessive, resulting in the EDI resin being broken, blocking the water production channel, and reducing the water volume.
4. Improper cleaning and disinfection directly leads to the crushing of EDI resin, the increase in the pressure difference between inlet and outlet, and the decrease in the quality and quantity of the produced water.
5. When the EDI system is running manually, it is powered on in the state of lack of water, which directly leads to the heating and carbonization of the diaphragm and resin, and the cleaning is ineffective and unusable.

6. There is no security filter before EDI water inlet, or the pipe and water tank are not thoroughly cleaned during installation, resulting in foreign objects blocking the EDI channel and increasing the pressure difference between inlet and outlet, resulting in a serious decrease in water production and ineffective cleaning.
7. The product is unqualified when leaving the factory, and the water leakage is unknown after a period of use.
8. The current and voltage exceed the rated value or human error.
9. The system process is improperly designed and does not meet the conditions for using EDI.
10. Improper system maintenance and management, failure to comply with the conditions of EDI.
This is the introduction of the causes of EDI damage of ultrapure water equipment, I hope it will be helpful to everyone, knowing the cause of the damage, we can also find and deal with the problem in time.
